About me and my work
First of all, I am the only member of the Bundestag from BÜNDNIS 90/DIE GRÜNEN for Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. In my constituency – Vorpommern-Rügen – Vorpommern-Greifswald I - I stand up for the concerns of this beautiful state. Mecklenburg-Vorpommern faces several challenges, such as long distances to school, work and medical facilities, as well as inadequate public transport links and recurring radio gaps. At the same time, it is one of the most picturesque German states, with impressive nature reserves, the Baltic Sea on its doorstep, expansive beaches, idyllic fishing villages and breathtaking scenery. I am proud to live here and would like to make Mecklenburg-Vorpommern not only a popular tourist destination, but also a place where people enjoy living and working.
My political work
Since 2017, I have seen it as my task in the German Bundestag to pursue these goals. I was elected to parliament for the first time then. This is now my second term. Although my official constituency is limited, I consider the whole of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern to be my responsibility. I firmly believe that the concepts of my party have the potential to benefit the entire state – from Putgarten to Dömitz and from Galenbeck to Nostorf.
Parliamentary State Secretary
In addition to my role as a member of the Bundestag, I took on a new responsibility at the beginning of 2023: I am Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Minister of Food and Agriculture, Cem Özdemir. In this role, I represent Mr. Özedemir at public events and international summits, both at home and abroad. As Parliamentary State Secretary, I work at the interface between parliament and government. Together with my colleague, I share responsibilities in the ministry. My areas of responsibility include rural areas, fisheries, coastal protection, renewable resources such as wood, and the management of peatlands.
From challenges to opportunities
These responsibilities are closely linked to the challenges posed by climate change and other changes. My goal is to turn these challenges into opportunities for Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The rural areas in our state hold enormous potential that can be tapped through new green jobs and well-resourced communities. I firmly believe that everyone in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern should have the opportunity to realize their full potential.
